DescriptionThe French ship, Uranie, under Captain Louis de Freycinet visited Hawaii in 1819 and this image is from Kailua Bay, Kona, showing huts, and the surfboard, where a party from the ship collected data, etc., during the visit. While an official artist was on the Uranie, this drawing was done by one of the draftsmen on the voyage, Alphonse Pellion.
