DescriptionT-shirt Dapper Dann Surfing Assoc Contest 85 DogpatchAccording to Darryl (donor), "this was a surf club founded in 1963 by myself and two others. We recruited the best surfers from Manhattan and Hermosa Beach. After Haggarty's disbanded Chris Bredesen and Rick Irons became members for the short time the club remained intact. Along with Lance Carson, Chris and Rick surfed in the first Morey longboard all club event in Malibu. After the Weber series renewed interest in longboarding, one of hte guys hat originally founded the club with me, talked us into starting the club up just for the fun of it. His name was Jeff Schnitter and he was a character. Many will remember seeing the top of his body above the parked cars in Manhattan Beach while he rode his motorcycle standing on the seat. We recruited a well know boogy boarder by the name of Joe Wolfson (aka DR. 360) to manage the club. While the original club was organized to win contests by recruiting the best surfers we could get, the renewed concept was to focus on having some fun contests and parties and was open to surfers of all abilities. We held a couple of contests a year and they were often followed by great parties or get togethers. Lance Carson's band played at some of them. Dapper Danns was the first club to beat both Windansea and the Long Beach Surf Club." Darryl Dickie
