DescriptionJan Berry and Dean Torrance were both natives of Los Angeles and each nurtured an interest in music that began with mid-50s rock n' roll. As high school students they used to sing the current hits together and work on original compositions for their own enjoyment. While having a record made of one of their songs to use at a party, the recording company president overheard the tune through the studio doors and liked it enough to buy up the rights. That began Jan & Dean's recording career, although neither of them considered it a full-time occupation.On View
