DescriptionSandals that Dick Metz took with him on his three-year trip around the world and were similar to tire-bottomed sandals worn by many of the African natives that Metz encountered. The name Huarache is derived from the Purepecha language term Kwarachi, and directly translates into English as sandal. Early forms have been found in and traced to the countryside farming communities of Jalisco, Michoacan, Guanajuato, and Yucatan. They are various shades of brown and heavily worn.
