DescriptionDick Metz picked this hat up in Tahiti and wore it throughout his three-year world trip. Growing up in the Pacific Region, the Pandanus family of plants consists of approximately 600 species whose leaves can be used extensively in weaving practice, housing, clothing, and textiles. Its leaf extract is often mixed with steamed rice and coconut milk to make a savory Malaysian dish called Nasi Lemak. It's also used to flavor soups, stews, and curries. The hat is a light tan with three rows of various shades of orange and white shells. In very good condition.
