Credit LineThis artist emerged on the world stage around 1990 with numerous Google articles about E.M. Washington and his various claims. Mr. Washington is a very talented engraver, with woodcuts as his artform. The pencil date, etc., under the image was part of Mr Washington's initial marketing efforts that have now been "redefined" to refer to the age of the "original image".

DescriptionThis surfing image is a copy of a 1920s woodblock by Ambrose Patterson. Mr. Patterson's 1920s woodblock was produced in an edition size of 15 copies, plus proofs. The differences between the 1920s original and this 1990s "copy" are (1) the size--this 1990s woodblock is larger--and (2) Diamond Head's top, in the background, is rounded by Mr. Washington along with added shading. On View
