DescriptionThis board was built at Laguna's Main Beach by early lifeguards "Hevs" McClelland and George "Peanuts" Larson while they babysat SHACC Founder, Dick Metz in turn for hamburgers and a coke. In 1939, Larson - one of early California surfing’s more colorful characters - rode a 12 foot wave at Churches in San Clemente that became legendary among Southern California surfers of the period. This board was ridden by Larson in the now-famous big wave picture at Killer Dana, taken by early surf photographer, Doc Ball, in 1939. This plank board is 102 pounds with a brass nose guard and made from chambered redwood. On View
