DescriptionThis redwood and balsa board has a mahogany veneer, no fin, and features a painting of a Hawaiian Chief on the deck. Owned by Duke Kahanamoku himself, this board appeared in Dole Pineapple advertisements. At one point, the deck painting had to be restored by a fine art restorer, due to the paint flaking off (the varnish undercoat was releasing from the wood). The shaper is unknown, but it was possibly shaped by Duke himself. This surfboard is considered one of the crown jewels of the SHACC collection.
