DescriptionBelonged to Duke's youngest brother, Sarge Kahanamoku. Duke's favorite board.
Metz bought from Sarge Kahanamoku at the opening of the Hobie Cannery store in Lahaina, circa 1990 (see pictures of the grand opening). "I flew Sarge over for the ceremony, which is when he told me the 'Duke Story,' which follows: Sarge said, "Dis board was 'Brudda' Duke's favorite board," and I said, "Sarge, why did Duke like this board better than his other ones?" Sarge said, "Brudda Duke like dis one best, because it floated better and he toake out many 'Haoli' girls surfing. But he no surf; he keep on paddling way outside and 'ges' dem one good Hawaiian f***ing." Sarge always called him "Brudda Duke," never just "Duke." Unusual that the drain hole is on the side, not on the deck.
