DescriptionWhitey made this type of board for himself and others during the pre-war period. Utilizing hollow board, ribbed construction design, and a plank shape outline, this was a lighter version of what was being commonly ridden at this time, i.e., solid wood construction. Harrison began surfing in 1925 at age 12 and was among the first to ride San Onofre in 1933. He was a surfboard builder, lifeguard, dry cleaner, and night watchman, but spent most of his life as a lobster and abalone diver. Lorrin along with Pete Peterson, was one of the featured shapers of the custom made surfboards that were available from Pacific System Homes.
